Historically, the Guénard oil mill was created in 1824 under the name of Huilerie du Berry in Vierzon in the department of Cher, to produce walnut oil from local production.
In 1926, the company was taken over by the Guénard family, which developed the business, which would take fifty years to move the production site at a distance of few kilometers to Noyers-sur-Cher in the Loir-et-cher department to develop new gourmet oils of 100% French dried fruit in a artisanal way.
Currently about thirty virgin oils, refined oils and blends, all gastronomic based on nuts, hazelnut, almond, peanut, pecan, pistachio, argan, sesame, hemp, pumpkin seed, pine nut… with intense and original flavors are marketed in the various distribution channels such as fine groceries and upscale restaurant in France and in about twenty European countries and outside Europe. The know-how of the Guénard oil mill is based on traditional artisanal processes, which have been optimized and improved thanks to the expertise acquired since its creation, which begins with the selection of raw materials with the establishment of partnerships with producers for a large part of France in a sustainable development approach, but also with international quality suppliers.
The manufacturing process transmitted over several generations passes successively through 4 stages which are:
– Crushing fruits and seeds with a granite wheel
– the toasting of the dough obtained after first step, in cast iron poelons
– Mechanical pressing to obtain 100% virgin oil
– the final filtration to obtain a clear oil to consume
This quality resulting from this process has earned the recognition of the Collège Culinaire de France that the oil mill Guénard joined in 2020 as a quality artisan. The Guénard oil mill is supported and sponsored by Christophe Hay, a two-star Michelin chef.
